Indian public spaces are not friendly, but are rather hostile to the idea of men, women and people of different sexualities expressing intimacy of their relationships publicly. However, declarations of lovers are often seen in Indian public spaces. These scribbles reveal individual's associations or memories of a certain public space, which may not just be a geographical location for them. As they search for their comfort zone there is always a temporary transformation or shift from public to private. This particular inscription is photographed from the historical sites of Lucknow, known as Residency, and later transferred onto cast concrete using halftone screenprinting.
