I came to printmaking by accident when I learned that I could print from the copper plaques I was installing on the streets of Toronto in the 1980s. My practice began as memorials for friends who had died of drug overdoses. I illustrated posters for social justice events, and my detailed style was showcased in zines that were distributed in prisons. Train has the number 13 ½, the symbol for Prison Justice Day, engraved onto the bridge, which functions as a prison where the carcasses of a train, a knife and a cross hang.
