The Angle Chase series expands the possibilities of the experimental “isotype” printing method I developed. I used a Cricut Maker to die-cut circular packing and masks for use on my Vandercook SP-15 cylinder proofing press. Combining the packing and masks allows me to isolate typographic components to create imagery that completely reimagines moveable types. The work pays homage to the history of commercial printing through the use of antique wood and metal types and process colors. At the same time, the abstract typographic vignettes are part of an avant-garde letterpress vocabulary that I am inventing.
